After RFK, where do the conservative independence voter go?
Dear E, thank you for sharing the video by RFK when he suspended his campaign. You asked us to listen to him as I believe it reflects the views, struggles and feelings of independent voters. Specifically, you posted:

I listened and struggling on parts and happy I listened to some good ideas. Below is my breakdown of sections of the RFK video. Some I found SOOOO disturbing for a so called leader seeking unity and goodness - negative rhetoric does not work with me.
Still, the underlying message of the "conservative independent" movement is healing and unity. Further, I find it interesting that the GOP and DEMs all the same underlying message. And still the message from ALL these groups is that the other sides are evil and there is no way we can achieve unity and peace if we give in. Such negative rhetoric is damaging to our journey to the center.
I divided the video into the following sections:
- (00) Anti DEM message - Corrupt System/Weaponization of Agencies
- (05) Corruption of Election systems - how forces conspired against RFK
- (19) Failure of our democracy
- (28) Policy: Ukraine Failure
- (48) Policy: Corruption of Health Care system & lack of care for our children
The point of this page is NOT to go tit-for-tat with RFK's views.
Rather to answer where does the conservative independent go from here?
1. Don't vote
2. Vote for Harris
3. Vote for Trump
Here is my thinking:
- RFK is right about the health failures
It is unfortunate RFK talked about health at the end. Some was nonsense but he has a GREAT message. Something for all to unite upon.
I trust RFK is a good advocate for this but I do not trust Trump is sincere about making this primary focus of his administration. RFK is being used.
- Conservative Climate Caucus
RFK didn't even focus on this. Everyone should learn about the work of the conservative climate caucus. They have very good ideas. Please spend time on the web site - Conservatives educating Republicans.
More important than the president - electing young house and senate representatives is the key. Congress has more power then the president.
- Worse then radical rhetoric is shutting down civil discourse
In all elections we don't like some of the rhetoric expressed from either side. Still we need to listen. Many try to shutdown or yell over. Both of these are worse then the original rhetoric - it reflects hurt and frustration about a deep anger.
And it because of these that I believe the most important thing we can ALL do is to keep sharing and expressing our ideas with humble civility. The use of the terms below are intentional and reflect an attempt to break thru our noisy info-filled world.
The notion that "the whole system" is corrupt is like teenagers yelling that everyone is against me. Yes, there are nasty people and harmful norms within any society. America is based on the premise that good people will bind together to stop extreme and abusive behaviors.
So "real" independent are willing to listen and not shut the door with such rhetoric. RFK and TRUMP are not real independents.
HARRIS, is a clear winner on this one - no matter what you think about the past.
Avoid:
- Corrupt System
- Weaponization of Gov't Agency
- American Neocon
- Image of America failure around the world
- You can't be a conservative and not trust the systems
I am tired and the American people are tired - watching older generation debating nonsense.
I feel it is important that we as siblings demonstrate how we can discuss and have civil discussions -- with a single message: WE TRUST EACH OTHER AND THE SYSTEM and regardless of who wins - we will hold tight to each other.
- Ukraine is not a simple topic
This is a conservative issue!!! I am aware of the dilemma balancing global peace and security agains the abuses of militarization. One can not pull back from Ukraine without risking Isreal support.
TRUMP can not be trusted with these and HARRIS is critical for our security.
- Economy, Social Security, immigration, Medicare and Project 2025
I believe the economy will continue to improve but only because Government is investing in US.
I really fear the social security/Medicare under TRUMP. Any vote other than HARRIS is a vote for Project 2025 and a radical transformation of our society.
I believe immigration and crime are a reflection of bigger issues that requires some iteration and refining over time - there is no silver bullet. TRUMP's destruction of the partisan immigration bill to benefit a political campaign reflects the chaos and judgement we'll all suffer from. Nothing will improve until we move to the center.
In all of these bipartisan cooperation is needed. I take TRUMP at his word and retribution is not the way to go.
